the lifegiving home

Author: sally & sarah clarkson

OVERVIEW: reading This book is the equivalent of sitting down for a cup of tea with sally and sarah, as they invite you into their home, family, and traditions. creating a home that is both an escape for those who live there, but also a welcoming haven for friends and family alike, is an intentional task that requires attention to detail and consistency of rhythms. this mother-daughter duo provides insight, as well as countless examples of the methods their family has implemented over the years to cultivate a sacred and life giving space to call home.

My thoughts: This is the coziest read. you’ll feel like a member of the clarkson family, by the end of this book, as you are welcomed into their unique family culture. the intentionality behind each of their decisions and traditions is so obvious and has really encouraged me to think deeply about the type of home environment I want to create for both my family and guests. A good portion of the book is broken down by month of the year, and it’s definitely something I could see myself reading again, particularly month by month. Homemaking is so much more than cooking and cleaning, and sally and sarah are truly inspiring when it comes to the art of it.
